Setting Up the Blackburn Room

The Blackburn Room has a capacity of 80 persons, lecture style, or 60 persons seated around tables. You will need to set up the tables and chairs as you require and restore the room to its normal state after your event. Additional tables and chairs can be found in the Storage Closets.

Furniture can be found in the storage spaces at the front left and right of the room behind the sliding panels.

The Blackburn Room has approximately 60 chairs with rollers for easy setup. More chairs can be brought in from the surrounding rooms for events.

Please do not order chairs or bring in chairs from outside the 4th floor CTSI/Reference area.

Table Details

The Blackburn Room has twelve 90 cm x 160 cm (36“ x 60”) movable tables with built-in powerbars that fold back creating a reduced storage footprint. Table rollers allow for easy repositioning and the front pair of wheels can be locked/unlocked by depressing/lifting the lever on the front of the wheel.

When preparing tables for use:

  1. Move a table to a desired location.
  2. Lock the front wheels to prevent unintended movement during setup.
  3. Carefully lower the top slowly until it latches. Please take care to not crimp power cords between the metal cable storage box and the table's top.
  4. Pull excess cable through the hole in the bottom of the cable storage box when connecting to floor outlets.

The top can be unlatched by simultaneously pulling both handles located under the front edge of the surface.

Light Switch with Presets Lighting Zones

The Blackburn Room has an automated, zoned lighting system with presets.

Lighting presets can be controlled from the main entrance and at the Crestron Panel, providing five standard lighting options.

Activation of the video projectors will automatically enable the Video Presentation preset.

Manual adjustments to lighting can be made by selecting one of the presets, adjusting levels from the Crestron Panel, and making fine adjustments from the Lutron Lighting Panel.

Window Blinds Controls

Window blinds that close off the view from the central public area of the floor are controlled from the Crestron Panel.

Select the Blinds option on the right of the screen and choose Up or Down from the options at the top. Note: Unlike most blinds, these roll from the bottom.

CAUTION: Please confirm no items have fallen into the roller before the blinds are lowered. If you cannot retrieve foreign materials, please do not lower the blinds. Instead, notify your Booking Contact for assistance.

Food may be eaten in the room during events. Please inform your Booking Contact of your intention to have food and notify them immediately of spills or damage. It is your responsibility to clean up after events.
